The Ute Tribe’s Ute Plaza Supermarket was established on October 28, 1998, with funds from the
tribe’s Water Settlement
Fund (Section 506 of Title V of P.L. 102-575 “Indian Rights Settlement). The store continued on
until major renovations were
done to the store in 2011, using Revitalization Funds. Further interior improvements were
completed in 2017, to highlight
the Ute Culture and to update the store’s overall appearance including display cases, lighting,
flooring, and equipment. Today, the store contains the Ute Bison Café and Deli, the Ute Crossing
and True Value Hardware Section.
It’s Meat Department features Premium Ute Bison, and its Produce Department boasts the
Basin’s finest Organic Vegetable Section.
The Ute Tribe owns the Supermarket and Ute tribal members are the stockholders. The store is
by the economic development arm of the tribe, Ute Tribal Enterprises, LLC.
